I have a 1947 Hudson Commodore Six and want to paint the engine the correct color. I need color name and sample or chip, and, if possible, a source for purchasing it. Thanks, Robert Gilzean
Discussion moved to the "Hudson" forum category.
I'm a new member and don't know how to go to the Hudson catagory. The message i received said the discussion has been moved to the Hudson catagory. Thanks for your help.
I see the directory titled "Forum Catagories" above, and I clicked on Hudson. I still am not locating the "Hudson Form Catagory with the response to my question. Thanks!
If you see your question above, you are in the Hudson Category; But you do not have a response yet. Things are slow on the w/e's for some reason~~~
Thanks! I thought I was there, so I'll wait for an answer. I appreciate your help!
Silver is correct color and you can use any silver engine paint. 🙂
Thanks very much for telling me that silver is the correct engine color. I really appreciate it. I'm going to be asking some more questions as the work on the car continues, so maybe I'll be able to get your help again.. Robert Gilzean
Robert,
I prefer Dupli-Color HWP101 Silver, which is their "High Performance" wheel paint. It's probably not absolutely "correct" since it is a metallic paint but it's not a metal-flake, gaudy looking color, just a subtle metallic effect. They have a nice nozzle that puts out a fine spray, doesn't clog, it goes on nicely, covers well and is a tough finish that isn't affected by gasohol or ordinary parts cleaners like Brakleen, etc. I avoid getting the carb cleaners on it, though.
Frank, Thank you for your response suggesting Dupli-Color HWP101 silver. I would have responded earlier but I wanted to find that and see if it is what I want to use. The top of the can looks like it might work, but I think I will check out a high heat Engine silver first. Duple-color also makes one of those, and the silver looks good. Thanks, Bob Gilzean
