Now available in the online library:
1927 Marvel Carburetor Service - Ser. 954 - Filed under 1920-1929 Bulletins
1938-1941 Hudson; 1936 and 1938 Terraplane - Thompson Products Catalog - Filed under Other H-E-T Literature (This is an incomplete catalog.) Most of it is missing but we scanned what we had and it should be of some use finding non-Hudson parts that fit. I'm not sure if Thompson is still in business or selling these parts but, again, the numbers give you something to look for at swap meets.

In the meantime I've run out of material to scan. I ask again for those members who have something that we can use please step up and offer to loan or donate. Donations will be sent to John O'Halloran upon completion of scanning. Thank you.

Hudsonly,
Alex B

Bravo, Alex! Yet another addition to our growing on-line library!

Looking through the library catalog, do you see any glaring omissions that need to be filled? Are there any sales catalogs or shop / parts manuals that are conspicuous by their absence?

Maybe if you put the word out here, someone would rummage amongst their stuff and find the needed item, to lend you.

One trouble in getting material is one doesn't know what's out there. There is no master list of material the company put out - at least as far as I know.
I know some things, like bulletins (dealer service letters and dealer sales letters from the teens; different types of bulletins from the 20's to the 50's; sales catalogs for all years; shop manuals, etc; simply because I have some of them, but not a complete set. I wish I could have gone thru the historical society material before it went to the AACA library where it is now pretty much out of touch. I don't know what all is in there (tho I admit I haven't looked at their index) but even so I don't have the money to obtain copies. I've got to go to Illinois and touch bases with brother O'Halloran sometime, but so far haven't gotten there.
There is an online library index in the online library (it's in the Other H-E-T Literature - under General - Hudson Motor Co. - Index of Technical Bulletins) - I need to have Paul load an updated copy of that, tho - so people could go thru that to see if they have material we don't.
I have put requests here on the forum and perhaps because I haven't been specific I haven't had hardly any response. It would be ideal if people would send me a message, email or post on the forum what they have and I could check it out against my lists.
I know some people are willing to sell what they have - my financial situation makes it almost impossible to buy literature like I used to do years ago. So be it. I didn't start this project to make a quick buck - I started it to benefit the club. Thanks to people like Aaron and Paul Butler, and others, we have a venue for the online library. I haven't checked other clubs but somehow I have the feeling the H-E-T club has one of the best online offerings.
So there you have it.

Hudsonly,
Alex B

Alex, here is a suggestion:

On the page http://www.hetclub.org/library/1096/showCategory/54/online-literature -- which one must pass through if he/she is looking for your literature -- why not place a small boxed note at the top of the page. The note would ask folks to contact you if they have any Hudson literature to loan you, which they do not see listed. Or, if they are looking for something they don't find, to contact you (so you can begin to assemble a wish list). You could give your e-mail address so they don't have to look for it. This might possibly encourage donations and feedback.

The boxed notice should not be overwhelmingly big, but should be "quietly prominent".

I feel sure that Aaron would oblige, if you asked him to post this. However, it would make more sense if you would e-mail him (instead of me, who isn't directly involved in the online library project).

Nice idea Jon. I'll work something up.

You'll also notice a new category in the Forum section that will feature Club Library items from time to time. I need to spend some time talking with Alex so we can come up with some "lends of the month" type features to try and generate interest in parts of the library that folks might not normally visit.

I'd hope folks could / would post in there as well if they have items to share or items they are looking for.

During the transfer of the library from Alex's old site to the new one I read nearly every article in there and there are some great ones. I posted about some of the Merchandisers ones a while back and I'd like to encourage people jus to dip in so we'll try and put suggestions together for them.

Paul, in wandering around the library I see that the online index is a tad out of date. I'm in the process of updating the latest. Will send it along sooner or later with instructions on where to put it. (I'm great at telling people where to put it!!!! LOL)

Alex B

Take a look on the library page now Jon. Not sure it fits "quietly prominent" but it says what it needs to 🙂
