I have a "53" 308 engine with a hydro transmission which I would like to separate from each other. What caveats should I be concerned with in trying to remove the tranny from the engine other than the bolts on the outside of the bell housing.

Go to library and look at Mech Proced. Manual and Hydramatic Manuals first.

Remove the shift levers from the transmission first as its easy to snap them off. You will need to drop the dust cover from the front and remove all the torus cover bolts. (a bunch of them) Everything else is typical removal procedure.
