I'm finishing wiring the dash panel & mounting all switches etc. I am left with the dash lights rheostat but no holes left to mount it. Can anyone post a picture of where they mounted their rheostat?
Thanks
J
I don't have one installed, but the Owners Manual shows it mounted in the large hole under dash {between lighting switch & lighter}. I only have the large hole !!! I installed stronger bulbs in my instruments anyway--rather dim now.
My reostate is mounted under dash below the cigar lighter.
After installing 6 Volt alternator all the lights are brighter, head lights, tail lights and especially the dash lights. I can now see the instruments at night now. Same bulbs and nothing else was changed.

Richard... I don't have a hole between the light switch & cigar lighter into which the rheostat would go. I wonder if there was a special face plate for the cars equipped with a rheostat?
Lee... Is there a kit for installing a 6v alternator?
thanks for replies

Lee,
Do you have an ammeter connected to measure the charging rate? To me, brighter lights means that the voltage may be more than the 8.2 volts the generator produces (when it is turning fast enough), which could cause the battery to be overcharged.

I found a hole for the rheostat. It is just to the left of the cigar lighter & facing down towards the floor. Just barely enough room for the rheostat & cigar lighter.

I said 'under the dash'--redemption
