Is it possible to have welded or repair a crank in a hornet stock single bbl straight 6 manifold? Mine has a 4 inch crack in it, and im trying to get it running again, before i remount it I would like to fix it or decide on another direction. Manifold is off the car and seperated from the single bbl intake. Is it worth trying to repair, should i find a replacement, or just mount the clifford headers I have stashed away and call it good?

Also the little tube that runs up to the carb is broke flush with the manifold as well, and I think the little heater flap is frozen closed.

Bradley,

I'm not sure of the best way, but mine has been repaired by stitching.

my crack is in the corner of the carb base square. Stitching may be tougher in the corner? thanks for the tip. thats a pretty cool process I never heard of until now. Thank you Google/ youtube!

Bradley,

I've read up on it a little, but am not the one to ask...

I would think a manifold would be fairly easy to come by since it isn't a twin H.
Jeff Perkins in Indianapolis does manifold repairs. I can't find his contact info but I'm sure someone here has it.

FYI
If the Motor is a Hornet now is a good time to install at least a 2 bbl Carb Intake. If you mean its a single 2 bbl Carb with a tiny crack and you have the 4 carb mount studs I would put JB Weld on it. The carb base would hold it from opening. Where im picturing the crack isnt a high stress or load bearing point needing welded, but I may be wrong since cant see it.
If want to weld it though take it to a welding shop where they pre heat then slowly cool back down afterward. If decide on using headers suggest having them ceramic coated for longetivity...
