Thanks Gordon, and sorry I didn't get back to you till after Doug had replied - i will definitely get one of these!
I'm losing the thread of the discussion, here.
Is the problem that no one currently makes a correct reproduction of the front bumper grommets for a 1937 Terraplane and Hudson?
Even if one were to undertake this (and it sounds like Doctor Doug might have some interest in doing so), do we have authentic grommets to use for a pattern? It sounds like we don't. If Alan's are not correct (and he may have the most authentic "survivor" existing), we are out of luck.
That said, I do have a bumper grommet that I removed from my '37 many decades ago. It was rock-hard at the time and had shrunk a bit. I replaced it with whatever universal-fit grommets were available from Metro at the time. Like many parts I removed from my car, I kept it for posterity. I may be wrong, and it was from the rear bumper brackets. Or, it may have been (itself) an old replacement. But I am certainly wiling to lend it to anyone interested in reproducing these.
Yes, that's dead on. I'd like to change the ones on my car because they don't fit at all well and slide forward under braking, but I am not sure if anyone makes a repro. Maybe the volume is too low to justify Dr Doug or anyone else making them, as there can't be *that* many 37s around. I don't know if they fit 36s as well - anyone more up than me on that?
And Jon, if they do need remaking it looks as if your old, hard one might be the way to go. What do you currently have on your car? I guess when you took the old one off you must have replaced it with something - or have you got the ill-fitting ones too?
Alan, I did check to make sure we have the correct front bumper iron rubbers. We checked them with an original '37 T we just got. They are the correct part. I'll make sure they get listed on the web as the correct part. thanks again for bringing it to my attention.
But how do you know (hee-hee!) that the one on the "original" you have in your shop, is truly original???
Jon, I guess that if it fits the irons and fenders it's going to be an improvement over what I've got!
Thanks Doug - will order a pair plus a filler neck grommet as soon as they are available

We have this original, un-molested '37 T. It has 44k on it . It has some issues, but I can't wait to start working on it. If I knew how, I would post some pictures here, so you could be the judge. I was surprised not to see you in Colorado Springs?.
That trumps my ace - mine's on 63999.5...
