I have a '38 H8 which the distributor counter-weight springs are totally had-it, with no tension, and the distributor has been running in the fully advanced position all the time. hence not auto-advance, and sluggish performance, and burnt valves. Does anyone know a source for the correct springs for the counterweights. One stronger than the other. Thanks,
Geoff

Geoff,

Some years ago my '35 Hudson 8 distributor was only advancing about half what it should. Someone gave me a distributor that was not worn, which is on the car now. I still have the old distributor. If you have not found springs yet, I can look to see where the wear is. Perhaps the springs are still usable.

Thanks for the offer Per. I have obtained a selection of springs, and currently experimenting on what is the best combination. Does anyone have an explanation for the use of one heavy and one light spring?
Geoff
