In the Hydramatic service manual it has this statement
"Air cleaner in oil level indicator cap, figure 355 should be cleaned every 10,000 miles or twice a year".
My question is this, Can the metal "rats nest" that they call the air cleaner be removed or replaced with something else? The material in my dip stick is falling a part.

Bill if you want to you can use a coarse metal scouring pad. No Brillo or Rescue.

Thanks Lance. We will look for one of those coarse pads to fill in the top of the stick.
