I read recently a post here...or in an old HET magazine? where someone offered information on a modern drop in replacement for the original front dash speaker.
Of course I didn't write it down at the time, and now find that I need one.

Zach,

Thanks for the tip.

I'll save the old one, but for now all I need is a basic speaker for a good price. [img] [/img]

Rob,

The speaker is a standard 6 by 9 inch speaker. You don't need to spend a fortune for it.

Mine cost $125 to be repapered and boy I dig that mono sound! I don't know how much a replacement speaker costs... But I didn't look into it because I'm obsessive about originality!

Per,

Thank you.

Yes, I have the old one out. I've tried every store in town (decent sized city) and everyone has 3 way this and that, but basic speakers are tough to find.
The two and three way's have things sticking up past the speaker edge on top.
Radio Shack just closed down too...
I can get a reproduction speaker online for $49.95 + shipping.
I had asked because someone here had recently posted the brand and part number and I think the price.
I'll learn to write these things down now, instead of thinking I can remember...

Zach,

I'll bet it sounds good!

Here is a link to the reproductions, if for no other reason than it will now be in the thread for someone else.

That's a good plan, Rob. Just make a 3-ring binder and keep every piece of information that you think pertinent in it. Sometimes you'll know that what records you kept are going to be needed for a future project and sometimes you will just be glad you kept other information because an opportunity arose to utilize it. If kept up with, this book will become your go to source for maintaining your Hudson.

I actually have a shelf now, with several such "books" on it.

Russell,

Great idea!

Soon I'll be able to help other new Hudson owners.[IMG] [/IMG]

Rob,

Have you gotten a speaker yet? If not, I'll try several I have which were made in the '50s, and see if any of them still sound good. The price would be $10 plus postage.

Per,

Thank you for your offer.

I have not purchased one yet. If you have one that isn't brittle and cracked, I'll be a buyer.

Steve Engle has reconed original speakers on the shelf for a reasonable price. He has an ad in the wtn and is in the roster. He likes to get a core from you so he can keep an inventory. 909-543-6078 He also does repairs and 12 volt conversions with upgrades

Rob,

I'm out of town for a couple of days. I'll check them on Wednesday, and let you know.
