Is anyone here familiar with the special length brackets needed when installing a Karvisor exterior visor on a convertible or a hardtop?

As I understand it, they need to be an inch or so longer than the standard bracket to make the visor secure because of the different style rain gutter.
Has anyone got an extra set, or know of another brand or style that will work?
It has been suggested that a 1 inch strip of stainless can be welded in after the piece is cut in two...but that is a bit beyond my ability.

Thanks,

Rob

Here are the numbers for the originals;

I have both sets. I probably don't know what I'm talking about, but I was told that the two different lengths was that the one that is deeper was made to accomodate the trim on Senior '52 &'53's.

I have the smaller brackets on my sedan and they seemto work fine. I even have the necessary gap between visor and roof to allow air to escape. This car has been run at 126mph with nary more than a flutter of the visor. They work.

I bought the longer set (or deeper I should say) brackets from Guy Spring for the convertible, because the short brackets made the top edge of the visor slam hard against the trim around the windshield. Now, I have the necessary gap between top of visor and windshield. The other difference I noticed is that the visor on the convertible has a much more sinister rake to it (which I quite like), but makes the viewing area even smaller and more tunnel-like, which a lot of folks don't care for. So far, this car has been tested at 5mph in the driveway, but seems to work well, regardless.

I just got a new camera for the Nationals, so let me go snap a few pics and I'll post some images to go with my ramblings.

Russell,

Fantastic pictures! [img] [/img]

The difference now is easy to understand. The stainless bracket is simply longer.
My car has the stainless gutter which needs the longer bracket.

Off to look up Guy Spring.

Thank you for the help, I appreciate your time!

Rob

I bought a set from Bent Metal (Mr. Spring) and they were works of art! Highly recommended.

David,

Thank you for the recommendation. 🙂

I spoke to his wife last night and ordered a set of the brackets.
