Hey All,
Quick questions here... I have a 49 Super Six that had the bearing/bushings in the generator go out. Squealing like mad and oil would not quiet it so I through it in the shop to be rebuilt. I wanted to take the car to a show this weekend, but with no generator it could be a problem. Wife said she will not push it just so I can look cool:)
I do have another generator from a 52 Hornet sitting in the garage. Would it cause any problems if I put the generator from the 52 in the 49? What is the difference between the two beside the location of the terminals?

Appreciate You All,
Rob

MYou can put he 52 gen in the 49 if you want to go through the trouble. You will need to have the correct regulator and make the wiring harness to make it work. Also the 49's reg is on the firewall tand the hole spacing is different. The 52 reg is on the inner fender. So, you will have to decide which modification you want to make here too. No biggie, but if the 52 gen is just an old gen then it will probably fail shortly. Make your life easier... Get the 49 rebuilt... Cost should be less than $100.00

On the plus side. The 52 will be fully regulated and deliver more amps. Not a big deal on a 49 as they don't have the slow start problem the later ones do which runs the battery down when cranking.

I have a 49' a 52 and a 54. All have different gens. I have ever seen the Need to put the lat gen in my 49 as it works fine all the time

NOW THAT I FURTHERED THE CONFUSION..at least you have a bit more info from which to make your decision
