My 37 terraplane seems to have front window wind deflectors. They look like your standards vent window but don't seem to align with the roll up window and seem to be mounted on the out side edge of the window slot. Is this an after market item, or something else? I am thinking about just removing them.
I think it would help if you posted a picture. Are you referring to breezies?
I think they may be called a Draft deflector.
I'm not the pre-war expert (yet), but I believe you are right, those are aftermarket or possibly dealer items. I've seen similar frames on other marques, but never a terraplane. Someone else will chime in, I'm sure.
I had them on a 36 Terraplane and assumed they were either standard or dealer aftermarket.
Answer to my question, Thanks everyone
This is a wild guess, but based upon this factory photograph, you may have a rare factory accessory for Terraplanes which originally did no have vent windows built in.

Strangely, there seems to have been a separate wing add-on for the Model 71's, which seemed to have some sort of stainless steel wedge above and below it. But perhaps this photo is of a prototype of a concept that was stillborn.

Wow! That's cool. Great find, Jon.
That looks just like them but I don't have the metal part on the bottom.
