I'm trying to identify the right shocks to put on the 48 Commodore. Rockauto sells Monroe 31094 for the rear, nothing for the front. A suggestion on the Open Forum is that the front can take '53-62 Corvette front shocks, NAPA part # NS 5751. Has anybody used shocks2springs.com? I figure that after 67 years its time for new shocks and less bounce. Any recommendations for replacements?
Thanks,
Josh

Call up Wildrick Rubber Products and they stick a set in the mail for you. Couldn't be easier.

Doug's are very nice, with Hudson stickers and all, perfect for pristine resto. If you don't need this, on stepdowns,
FRONT SHOCK MONROE Sensatrac 5751 ST
REAR SHOCK MONROE 31094, or Monroe 37029ST

This is a topic I've been researching for a while. I put a file together including the Hudson specs.
I found two shocks on the Monroe website, both are low gas pressure RV shocks and have the advantage of a 1 3/8 piston which should provide good control on these heavy cars without the disadvantage of the high pressure shocks. As soon as I get the front springs changed ( they're toast) I let everyone know how they work.
PS The Monroe site has all the specs on their products including which cars they fit, which is handy.
I own no stock in Monroe.
Dean

While I have not studied the pressure ratings of the shocks I mentioned above I have driven my 53 HH sedan on backs roads and highways without any problems. Ride seems nice to me.

Still like my pump-up Monroe rear shocks: MA727.
