Thanks for the picture; I was able to feel the hole through the vinyl, now that i know where to look!!
Does anyone have a picture of the Guide style traffic light finder installed in their stepdown? I bought one with a magnetic base and i'm getting ready to take the plunge to punch out the little piece of vinyl over the pre-drilled hole in my dash, but I'd like to see how to orient the unit before I do that to my dash. Thanks, Mike
Hi Rob - yes, this is very helpful...it looks like it goes straight down into the pre-drilled hole in the dash, no arm sticking out to the side. Now I understand Dave Sollon's earlier post about obtaining a different mount from an old Guide mirror, because my aftermarket unit has the long arm as shown in Dave's picture.Thanks.
Michael,
Might want to try that mount first since it has far more adjustment, I wish mine could tilt farther...

Good idea. although I have some bigger fish to fry first; I've been having trouble with the engine over the past couple of weeks. I may have figured it out as a bad condenser (I have a who;e other thread on that subject), so if my road test is successful I'll bring my traffic light finder along to see how to configure it. It has a magnetic base right now, which makes the whole thing look a bit over-the-top, but at least it should tell me how to set the angles, etc. Just trying to save my neck muscles.
Finally got a chance to install mine. Thanks to everyone who helped.

Looks perfect, Michael! I've noticed that it doesn't really matter what angle it sits at or whether it tilts forward or back or anything else. It takes the view outside and makes the whole picture very small, so movement of the Guide unit doesn't really change the look when viewing through the prism. I agree, the long arm and/or the magnetic base is over the top, especially for a car that already has a short windshield.
