Hi all - I don't have one of those cool visors installed on my '51 Hornet Hollywood, but I'm still getting tired of craning my neck to see the traffic light. I see that there are basically two versions of traffic light finders out there, Guide and Fulton. Can anyone suggest one over the other, or is it really just personal preference? Thanks.

Guide is the standard. There's a couple-three different variations and personal preference plays a big part.

Get on the Chevy sale parts and you will find a traffic light finder. Chevy also had the part back in their days. Walt.

Michael-

Actually, if you do Ebay, there's plenty on there on Ebay Motors, type in "Guide traffic viewer", and a whole bunch will come up. New and used, around $20 for the standard guide, $50-$60 for the fancy one that Richard has in his car (those are actually listed as the Chevy ones).

Thanks Daniel. This looks more like the Guide version than the Fresnel Fulton version. It looks like they're both pretty plentiful on eBay.

The aftermarket reproductions have arm with ball on end like Chevy used. To make look original Hudson, get a scrap Guide rear view mirror and remove mounting bolt. It will fit in lens. The only difference is you have to make hole larger in dash. This is picture of repo

Most of the senior cars (Wasps, Hornet Specials & Hornets) from '52 up already had a hole in the dash top (under the vinyl cover) to mount the traffic light viewer . You can feel the hole thru the vinyl - it's within the first six inches or so on the left side of the dash top.

Hi Jerry - thanks for the info. I just went out to the garage and felt around for a hole in the dash in my '51 Hornet. I didn't feel anything, and i'm wicked reluctant to drill just yet. I think I'll have to go to a show to see exactly where to do the mounting. I'd hate to put it in the wrong place and have the folks at the shows snicker and shake their heads. Just kidding; they're all too friendly for that nonsense.

Hi Daniel - the picture you posted is really tiny. Do you have a bigger one? Thanks, Mike
