The motorcycle picture in your album here says itself that there has to be a good story to go with it.
Dan,
Yes, I'm sure there is a really good story behind the making of that picture, but as it is just a photo I found on the Internet, I can't give any details...
It made me smile, and whoever put it together did a great job with composure!

[quote="Rob Hesselmann " post=10049]Thank you all for the tips, and for sharing your experiences! 🙂
It sounds like there isn't much to be concerned about as long as it is correctly installed and I get a traffic light finder.
That is good news, because if the car I buy doesn't have one, I want to install one.
I'm guessing E bay is the best bet for finding a visor?
What is the average going rate for one?
Are there Hudson specific visors, or will the universal ones work?
Rob
I agree with most of the posts here. Traffic viewer a must. KarVisor was the main one. Most were aluminum, a few steel. There are a few others out there, but the KarVisors were designed for the stepdowns, with the cut-out area for the roof antennas. '54's a whole different animal with the one-piece windshield and those visors are nearly impossible to find. I know guys that looked for the center brace for decades and never found one. Ended up custom-fabricating one that would work. Think Dave Sollon did the same thing on his.
Ebay is one option, knowing whom to call is better bet. Starting price is usually in the $375-$425 range. $500 and up for NOS. I personally wouldn't trust a universal one at high speed, but that's personal preference. I've had mine up to 126mph by GPS. They DON"T blow off when installed properly. Period.
I make the visors. New visor and brackets with the screws and instructions. The only thing I don't have is the outside center decorative trim piece. Which you see for sale fairly often for around $20.

YOU CAN ALSO GET A MAGNET BASE FOR THE VIEWER THAT IS WHAT I DID ON MY CONVERTIBLE
That's great, Guy. I didn't realize you were making the visors as well as the brackets. What's the price for the whole package and when are you going to make the center stainless piece?
I have one of those fiberglass replicas. I bought the brackets from Bent Metal as the only one I had was he center mount that was substandard. Bent metals brackets mirror the original, but better! I have not run it yet; as I am in the painting stage. I did have an original on a 49 four door and loved it. This one is going on a 49 two door. I bought the "finder" on EBay. Love the "look"..
Thank you all for the additional information on the visors! 🙂
It is good to know that if the car I buy doesn't have one, I can choose between new and E bay.
Rob, off to look for a traffic light viewer!
Rob, here is my traffic light viewer. It is the FRESNEL type{like a lighthouse but reverse}.

ROB THIS IS JUST LIKE THE ONE I SPOKE OF I INSTALLED IN MY 50 PACEMAKER IT WORKS GREAT 😉
I have to say that the concept of a traffic light viewer had passed me right by and I did wonder what in the world it was but now I see one it makes me want to have one!
No real reason other than to see the look on people's faces when they ask what it is 🙂
I tell people mine is a satellite antenna. It tells me where all the other Hudsons on the road are currently.
A better look at the "Fresnel" traffic light finder in my '53; it is Guide brand. AND raises all kinds of questions !!

Has the sun light coming back through the traffic viewer been a problem when driving straight into the sun?
