I posted the following on the HET Facebook page - but wanted to post it here. I was going to post it on the off-topic page, but upon reflexion it really is Hudson related.

I have a story to tell. It involves several Hudson club members directly and all in general and it shows what sort of club we have. l'll start back in 2007 mentioning a very nice lady in our club who, as I was getting ready to depart Maine for TN came up to me and told me to never forget I always had my Hudson family. She really knew what she was talking about. A couple years of so back a club member sent me $50 as I recall for no other reason then he figured he'd toss a few bucks into the kitty to help get literature for the online library. More recently another club member, knowing I'm on a fixed income and so it is difficult to get the stuff I need to build the library, sent me $50 to help pay for the new computer. And just recently another member to whom I'd mentioned I was trying to put together the cash to buy a new scanner since my old one was 10 years out of date sent me an email telling me to send him notice of what I needed - then emailed me back saying the Hudson Bunny was buying me the new scanner. Add to this all those who have contributed to the online library and to the many friends I've made over the many years I've been in the club - well the generosity of Hudson club members is a little overwhelming at times. I cannot adequately thank all of you who have made the past 45 years of club membership so memorable. All I can say is thank you one and all.

Robert, maybe it's because we all share the same frustrations - and joys - that come with old cars!!! LOL That and a love for old machinery - look at the following of tractors and steam traction engines. People you don't know or maybe never met are willing to jump in with both feet to help you get the most out of your old car experience. I've found a comradeship in H-E-T that I never found in other car clubs I've belonged to over the years. In HET there is very, very little of the "my car's better than your car because it's shinnier" attitude that you find in other clubs. Hey, every family has their grouch old Uncle Ed, right?? And HET really is a family and the (inter) national meets are a family reunion - a time to catch up on all the family news and gossip.
As I say I've been hanging around HET for 45 years - the other clubs I belonged to over the years are not even remembered now.

Hudsonly,
Alex B

I know I can still get "ma thang on" by looking at an old tractor and as for Traction Engines .... well let's say that on my bucket list is either a) the chance to ride in one b) the chance to drive one or c) the ultimate aim - own one!

Old car people are generally social people with exceptions to prove the rule of course. Over the years I've met many characters all brought together by their love of these old things.

People like Alex are to be applauded; his dedication and devotion to pulling together what is currently in the library and his thirst for adding more is second to none.

Long may he reign say I

As a new member, I can attest to that![img] [/img]

It is refreshing to join a club whose members thus far have gone out of their way to help me, without being judgmental or obnoxious.
I feel comfortable here, and it is because of the people and the good attitudes! [img] [/img]

It does matter.
