OK, going to re-install the boiled out gas tank on my Jet. Lester Harris checked out the sending unit, and it works. Was informed that a Ford sending unit gasket will work. Have that now. To reinstall the sending unit and the gasket: What is the procedure? Don't want to mess with the ground on the sending unit. Do you use any gasket sealer or cement?
Cheers!
Still celebrating St. Patrick's day!

What I do is run a wire from a sending unit holding bolt {screw} to a bolt in the frame cross member, or what might be closer in the Jet. With proper termination connections, of course.

I know how to wire it up, but on the Jet, the sending unit screws on with a metal clip. I was told it needed a gasket also to help seal it, which I bought. (Ford one). But to me it doesn't seem like a good seal. I would think that the gasket might affect the grounding of the sending unit. Anyone installed one on a Jet? That's what's holding me up on getting this running for the first time since 1963. Had it running with an external gas can, and a petrified rat popped out the exhaust pipe about 20 feet!
