Richard
I like what you did with the hazard lights and brake lite for stepdown. Can your idea be made to work on 6V Positive ground also? Can you share the wiring schematic or do you have the setup available in kit form? I would like one on my 6 volt 52 Hornet and my 12 volt 47 PU. I remember seeing that photo on your gallery but didn't understand how it worked. I'm impressed with many of your Stepdown updates. I'm already looking for the angled stickon side mirror.
Great idea. Thanks for sharing.

The hazard indicator light was purchased at O'Reillys; it is a flasher LED.
Note: all my work is on a 12 volt car; you will have to search for 6 volt equipment.
schematic later~~~ but looks like the items
above will work for 6 volts; The 2-prong flasher is a normal item.
Edit: note that the flash sequence of strobe is specific so it will not be in violation of whatever and goes to steady red within about 10-15 seconds so as to not make someone mad or attract an irritated cop. The strobe is for LED lites ONLY.
My system was complicated by my wanting to include the 50 watt backup lights in the hazard system. I did not include the front signal lights because I didn't see the need.
Don't believe any diodes are required with the back-up lights eliminated. I had the diodes already; not sure about the one going to the backup light switch but I put it in anyway. I also use #12 wire for most everything I do due to voltage drops.
I think the hazard lights are extremely necessary. Change a left side flat tire on an interstate and see how you feel about it ?? I also carry a reflecting triangle !! The 3rd brake light and strobe was done earlier but they really enhance the hazard system. This is a 12 volt system but that shouldn't make any difference. The bracket I fabbed and the 'funny' thing is that a factory hole in the dash lower lip was in exactly the place I needed a hole and was the exact size. Have fun~~~~~

I experimented with some 12 volt neg. gnd.. LED tail lights for a trailer. I connected them to a 6 volt battery and they worked! However. They are polarity sensitive. So you might be able to use 12 volt LEDs on your 6 volt Hudson, but have to do some creative re-wiring. Heck, It's worth a try.
Wow, no one is going to miss you with those lights, Richard. Nice.
David, I hope everyone MISSES me !!!!!!! LOL
note that 6 volt lites and flashers are available--type in google; but LEDs won't work on Positive Gnd.; at least not on my Healey.
ALL 3rd brake lites that stick on the glass have a separate ground wire so can't the wires just be reversed{not sure, you are on your own}???
Richard
Thank you for the information.
Lee O'Dell
Sure, if there are separate wires you can just reverse them. Most are marked which one should be pos and which neg, so just follow the usual code . . . red to positive, black for negative. Not a problem.
Hello Richard
I have ordered the 3rd light and controller from Amazon.
Where did you get the Switch and Indicator light. I could not find them at Amazon.
What amp fuse to use?
Can you post a picture of your back up switch on the column and give brand & part number
Also, back up light brand and part number.
Do the LEDs get to hot for the plastic tail light lens? 52 Hornet.
Thank you.

Park
My Hornet has 6V positive ground alternator. Are you saying the LEDs will work if I switch the red to positive to black to positive and the black to negative to red to negative? Sound too simple. Is that all there is too it?
Lee O'Dell
Switch is listed on the 2nd post here--the Amazon link, indicator light is O'Reilly's--the smallest one there--or anyone you want. Believe the fuse is10 amp. The back up switch is what is on the Hudson shifter mech. At least mine was there. the backup lights are also O'Reilly's driving lights: 50 watt each. you need to see the post here on the Backup lights. click on my name and it will most likely go to all my posts--click on the Back up light one. Part number, etc is there. comment if you have a problem.
Lee,
Yes, if you've got a polarity-sensitive device with separate wires for neg and pos (rather than getting a ground connection from the device's structure), then all you have to do is honor any polarity markings on the device or the usual color code (red wire positive, black wire negative), and connect them accordingly: So, on a pos ground car, red to ground, black to power source. If no polarity markings and both wires are the same color, it's likely not a polarity-sensitive device.
Lee, the LED lite on rear window will work, per Park, but my concern was the flashing controller mentioned being cross wired(-to+,+to-) and whether it would work that; but it is only $8.00 to find out !! The LED's w/o exotic flasher is a very worth while LIFE improvement.
