I have been digging through the documents I received with my Commodore and found the original 'shipping record and delivery receipt' 🙂
Now I do need a bit of support from those here that know these kind of things inside out:
Color CC
Trim W1 or N1
options : T / O / Y / LL / WW / A
Can you please elt me know what these abbreviations stand for ?
Many thanks !
Delivery of the car to Brady / Texas.
Oct. 1961 the speedometer did show 37,273 miles (tire change in Marlin, TX).
The first owner did keep it at least until 1971 (Registration receipt), by the he lived in Las Vegas
Dirk
1949 Paint code "CC": Platinum grey poly
T: overdrive
O: oil bath air filter
Y: radio
LL: Standard rear end ratio
WW: 5 4-ply white side walls
A: Alum. Cyl. head
listings are in library: pg 3; '48-'54 bulletins
Richard,
Do you know whether the LL "standard rear end ratio" means the most usual 4.10 ratio, or does it mean what was common with overdrive cars, 4.56?
Per
looked again; here is what it said; 4-5/9 to 1 all
{optional 4-5/10 to 1}
that is the reason I didn't say, since I know not what that means.
you can see yourself if you go to bulletins
EDIT: I have just never seen ratios expressed in that form.
According to a 1950 Hudson Price, Equipment and Option Folder I have in my files LL is Standard Ratio with Super-Matic drive and overdrive - 4-5/9 to 1, optional 4-1/10 to 1 - available all. (No charge)
CC - Dark Golden Gray Opalescent ($23.71)
There were two oil bath air cleaners (Option O) ($8.29) - one for Super 8 (503) and Commodore 8 (504) - the other (listed at $6.29) is for all others.
The tires (WW) are 15 x 7.60 4-Ply white walls mounted on 15 x 5.50 K wheels ($23.34)
The aluminum cylinder head (A) was listed at $10.75.
Strangely (or maybe not) there are no trim options given. 1949 says W1 Tan Broadcloth with body colors H, M, N, P, RR, HN, SP and RM
The 1950 brochure says this: Standard Upholstery on 502-504 models (exc Convt) is striped Bedford Cord in combination with plastic Dura-fab trim. This is followed by:
BLUE-GRAY with blue stripes - nylon Bedford Cord upholstery (in combination with harmonizing plastic Dura-fab (trim) is standard with color options B-G-J-K-Q-JB-QG. Optional with other color options without extra cost.
TAN with brown stripes - nylon Bedford Cord upholstery (in combination with harmonizing plastic Dura-fab (trim) is standard with color options H-M-P-S-CC-HN-RC-RR-SP. . Optional with other color options without extra cost.

you could also get leather interiors - attached is a 504, original paint (black), and came with blue leather seats & naughyde door panels, headliner, etc.

Pete,
Do you have any more pictures of this 50 CCC? Especially the interior. I have one that I'm going to restore. The interior had door panels that had a diamond pattern. These all came with a blue or brown style interior for closed cars. The dash and other metal panels were brown-toned leather grain or a blue/gray tone leather grain.
this is the only other pic of it that shows the interior very well but I can take pics of just the interior if you'd like as he's my oldest HET crony here in town.
Pete,
Thanks, appreciate that. Here's what I'm starting with.

I'm going to a little party with Buzz this aft. & will make an appt. to go to his house & photograph the interior extensively for you. Want me to post them in her or onto an e-mail to you????????
Pete
Pete, if he it's ok with it, post them here. Otherwise, let me know and I'll get you my edress in a PM.
Richard,
That 5/10 must be a typo. My mechanical procedure manual (1951) agrees with what Alex posted, the overdrive equipped cars had 4 5/9 as the standard ratio, with 4.10 as the optional ratio. For non-overdrive cars, it was the opposite, with 4.10 as the standard ratio, with 4 5/9 as the optional ratio.
