'57 power steering old seal leaking. Replacement from NAPA is too thick to allow the lid to be put back on. Another forum mentioned RockAuto but I don't want to order from that source if the gasket thickness is the same as NAPA. Apparently, at least in my case/source, the gasket was not reproduced IAW original Hudson/Eaton specifications. Anyone know a source for the correct seal? Cutting a new one would be difficult.

Assume you mean the reservoir; what I would do with mine in that situation is to make a gasket. Set the lid down on the material and you should have an oil print to cut one. Get the correct thickness at an industrial gasket place if not found at an Auto place. Then if you can't find the correct thickness, to go McMaster-Carr online; they will ship a min. order to your door. Have ordered hard-to-find stuff from them; good folks. In fact, they have so many types and thicknesses you will have a difficult time selecting.
