Well I have been helping Alex in a project to transfer his literature from his old site into the same categories on this site. Find them all under the Library tab above.

As part of the transfer I get the added pleasure of reading things as they get moved across so I can check they have transferred over properly so I'm getting to read things that I might not necessarily have read.

I've just finished off the 1920 - 1929 Hudson Triangle category and there are some interesting reads in there. The hard pitch that Hudson put across in terms of selling their cars is a good read.

One thing I did notice is that 1929 seems to have more of a professional appearance to 1928 so maybe a change in the Publicity Department there?

One article caught my eye in "1929 Hudson Triangle Volume xvii Number 14 May" (find it here http://www.hetclub.org/index.php?option=com_booklibrary&task=view_bl&tab=getmybooksTab&is_show_data=1&id=205&catid=74&Itemid=1096) about a salesman called E. J. Sanderson who worked for Walker Motor Sales of Highland Michigan who sold 116 cars between March and April generating $48,000 for his company and $2,918.45 in commission for himself.

In todays money that converts to $654,172.63 and $39,768 ; not a bad earnings value

I suggest that a ramble around the library when you have a spare moment will not disappoint you.

Serious kudos to Alex as well that we have access to these documents!

Not only do I have to thank Paul for volunteering to take on this task (and it is monumental) but a big THANK YOU has to go out to Gregg Maroney for setting up the original online library. Without Gregg Paul wouldn't have much to work with. We owe these two gentleman a lot for their work.

So a tip of Aunt Hester's bonnet to Gregg and Paul.

Most of the 1930's material has been moved to the club web site. Any comments on the format, things you'd like to see, etc. I personally think it's a lot easier to see what your looking at - having the cover sheets to look at.

One slight difference to Alex's old site is that the manuals are now loaded under sub categories covering the individual years in the decade. It was done this way because it made the pages look neater!

I haven't yet done all of the years so the ones that haven't yet been updated will change over the coming days

Where a manual covers a number of years it has been published in each individual year. The forum software allows us to select multiple categories for each document. The actual document is only held once on the server but we just create virtual views of it.

An example of this is the 1927 - 1933 Chilton Parts Interchange document. This has been published in the categories covering 1920-1929 Manuals, 1930 Manuals, 1931 Manuals ,1932 Manuals, 1933 Manuals. One document but can be viewed from a number of places.

I have tried to ensure as I load documents up that they are accessible but if you find a link failure at all then please let either Alex or myself know and it'll be looked into

The plan afoot at the moment is to have the manuals, and probably other material, available thru the club store - prices included in the store listing. Not sure if you can still download from the HET Club library site, but think you can. Many manuals are now available thru the club store.

There was a tiny glitch the other day with downloading caused by the vendor that supplies the software calling a release "minor" when in fact it was somewhat more than that!

Fixed that now and the download option works a treat again 🙂

I'm currently working with Jeremy & Aaron on making more manuals etc. available via the Club Store ; watch this forum for announcements as we move it along

I wish I could find a source for bulletins - like Car Distribution Department Bulletins, General Accessory Policies and Information Bulletins and others. There's a ton of info in these bulletins and while I have some I don't have complete runs for any year. I know somebody out there somewhere is sitting on a stash of these important documents.

Thanks David. Paul did an awesome job getting everything moved off the original site and into the club library web site. This was the plan all along after Aaron got the club site up and running. I don't think Aaron realized what a job it was going to be moving over 1500 documents. Needed a BIG moving truck and Paul supplied that. Thanks to both for their work.

Wouldn't that be brilliant Alex! As I was moving documents I read them not every page of course ; that would have added more time to the exercise!

The Dealer Bulletins were fascinating ; if you could hold of more that would be fantastic. Let's hope that somewhere out there some of these are sitting waiting to be discovered and that you are the man who discovers them 🙂
