Did Hudson share the rear axles from the mid 40's with the earlier stepdowns, in particular the 50 Pacemaker? Looking at the parts list it seems not but I have been fooled by these numbers before!!

They're not interchangeable. The stepdown differential assemblies look similar, but they're not the same. And the axle housing and axle shafts on the stepdowns are shorter by about four inches.
