I'm thinking of putting a 262 head on my 308,I hear it will give it a little more compression. Are the head bolts the same size or will I need to change the head bolts?

Depends what year 308 it is. Earlier had 7/16 which is the same as the 262. Later (I think 55) used 1/2. Make sure you also check your head to make sure that you are using a 51 or later 262 head. Earlier and it will be a "narrow block" 262. Hard to tell just by looking, you need to measure. Hope this helps.

Thanks Aaron, my 308 is a '52 model,I don't have a head as of yet. I knew about the narrow block but was unsure about the bolt size. thanks for the tips. Jim

Check with Al Saffrahn (see WTN for info) He di that to my super Six back in 2005 and I've driven the car now in 46 states since then. Aaron is right - you need to check out those items he mentioned. Al can also walk you thru that.
