Regarding replacement points for a 1948 Commodore 8 - RockAuto lists the following:
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # AL4556PT, and,
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # AL4556P
for the six cylinder, and nothing listed for the eight cylinder. Can I use these for the eight cylinder? If not, any recommendations?

My info says Echlin CS-13 for 48-50 8-cyl.
My parts stash shows Preferred=CS 26
standard,Blue Streak = AL 5051X
Auto Lite IGP 3028 GS
These are also listed for Chrysler 39-42 and 48-50

Many thanks for your help and your offer. I have located and purchased the Auto Lite points. I am trying to cure a weak spark by updating the condenser, points, coil, plugs and wires.
