Hello folks,
I've been chatting with the club's new store manager--Jeremy is exceedingly nice and helpful--and we haven't been able to answer a question about which VIN tag is which between the 48-50 and the 51-53 types.
I've attached two pics below, swiped from the club store. Tag 1 is currently shown in the store as the 48-50 tag, but in the old store it was shown as the 51-53 tag. The converse is true for tag 2.
I haven't been able to find any other place on the internet that shows which VIN tag is which. Jeremy and I would like to make sure that folks buying blanks for their stepdowns get the right one--and my car is one of them!
Thanks much!

I see now that when I inserted the files we lost the file names. The top tag, with the space for a serial number on the right side, is "tag 1." The bottom tag, with the space for the serial number extending all the way across the tag, is "tag 2."
I would ask if #2 is a correct 1953 ID tag?? I have one just like it put on with pop rivets, and I don't believe it is correct. Have been told that it is not correct.
Also can't believe that an original design is not in someone's door jam.
Richard, do you have a 1953, and you've been told #2 is not correct for your vehicle? That would be consistent with what was pictured in the old store.
I'm assuming it won't be long before we get folks weighing in with their original tags on their door jams!
The Tag 1 on top is the same as my 52 Hornet original tag.

The top picture shows the same original tag on my 52 Hornet.

The bottom tag matches the 1948-50. Top tag is like 52-53.
I have a 51 tag which is like the 52-53 except that the Hudson emblem on the bottom is reversed, silver background and black figures. 54 tag has a section for paint and trim options which
were ink stamped.

OK, guys, thanks--I think that settles it. I'll get the info to Jeremy!
I type into this forum and click 'submit' and this shows up at the top>>
"You have entered information to an obsolete form from another session. Please verify that the user account is yours and please try again!"
My name is at the top, so why wouldn't it be my acct ???????
Problem is that I can't remember what I said to retype it again~~~LOL.
Yes, Richard, there IS something amiss with this forum's software. Unfortunately, we only have a limited number of ways to deal with the problem, as it was a "purchased" item and already came pre-engineered.
Have you tried hiting the "refresh" button at the top of the screen ↺) after hitting the submit button? This sometimes works for me, displaying the reply that I THOUGHT I'd already posted.
Lower tag is the one on my 1949 Hudson Commodore

tks, Jon, guess I was just flustered. Sorry, will try that and again later. I need to learn to highlite and copy before clicking submit.
Then it would only be an inconvenience and not a flustration.
Thanks again, everyone--our club store has already been modified to reflect your help! We do have a great group of people here.

I have a 51 tag which is like the 52-53 except that the Hudson emblem on the bottom is reversed, silver background and black figures.
Fred, does your '51 VIN tag resemble this? I made this as a near-perfect re-creation of the VIN tag on my car, a 1952 Hudson built in May of 1952. I own a second 1952 Hornet built in October of 1952 that has an original VIN tag that resembles the '52-'53 reproduction VIN tag available on the Club Store website. I need to look at more '51 VIN tags, but I'm thinking that this is the '51 style and was discontinued mid-way through the 1952 model year.
Yes, Zack, that is it exactly. Nicely done!
