We spend nearly 2 weeks in the local GM service and every mechanic is meanwhile greeting me with my name..as I'm the Germans engineer. ..
Even if they killt our electronic ignition when welding the right fender, we had a spare and at the end they charged us 40 Dollars. INCLUSIVE help, some small parts and painting after welding...
SUPER!

Another problem....
Hudo's engine stopped with a bang and there is a part probably from the timing cover???

but what is it and what is it looking in original shape ??

Any tips are welcome..

Patrik

Patrik--

If that "stamped" number is 23629, then this is the generator eccentric coupling. It should interchange with all 1930-31-32 Hudsons and Essexes and the 1933 Hudson Eight.

Where did you find it? Did it fall out onto the road?

In the PDF attachment (from the parts manual) it is part H16-6 -- though it is difficult to understand, from the picture!

I couldn't find any pic's or drawings from that area of the engine...

Do you have a link?

It seems to be bronze or brass -- did it break off the generators?

Are you shure about the generator? As Hudo's generator is not original any more..

But Heidi mentioned something about the timing gear arrea

Here is what the shop manual (mechanical procedures) says about removing the coupling:

Raise right side of hood. Remove the front and rear of the four generator drive shaft coupling clamp nuts
and bolts. Remove clamps. Loosen generator holding strap clamp screw. Slide generator back to free
coupling. Remove drive shaft extension and couplings assembly. Remove two coupling clamp bolts. Remove
two couplings from extension shaft.
REPLACE
couplings on extension shaft. Replace clamps, bolts and
nuts. Replace shaft extension and couplings. Replace coupling clamps, bolts and nuts. Tighten generator
holding strap clamp screw. Lower hood.

Perhaps the generator is no longer the original one...

But perhaps the COUPLING is original? The number which is stamped into the part, identifies this as the correct coupling for Hudo!

Hmm....
This sounds like it is located in one end off the geni driveshaft...
I have some pics of that but they do not match the pic from the part..

Or is it under the oilpump bell housing?

Patrik

I am searching the manuals that are "online" (at the Hudson website), trying to find photographs of this part!

Here is another view. Strange....there seems to be some sort of enclosure, which completely surrounds the broken coupling part. How may it have broken off, and come into the engine compartment?

Perhaps this picture does not match the coupling on your car!

Patrik: the photo which I cannot upload here, is now posted over on our OTHER Hudson forum: http://forum.hetclub.org/discussion/166815/picture-of-broken-part-for-patrik [/url]. Click on the "PDF" symbol to see it, when you get there.

The part number in the picture, is H16-6.

The part number on the picture which I just uploaded HERE, is #107. It is the LEFT photo, just above the bottom photo on the page.
