Hi Everyone:
When I made the deal for my Hudson last Spring I was hopeful that the motor would be salvageable. I knew my chances were slim to none because I've had motors stick after just one winter, and this old girl had been sitting for 57 of them.
Once I got the car home I removed the sparkplugs and started pouring a couple tablespoons of Marvel Mystery Oil down the sparkplug holes every few days. Yesterday, after a two months of this treatment I finally worked up the courage to see if I could get the motor to budge. I removed the radiator so I could get my inch and a half socket on the crankshaft bolt, I applied a little breaker bar, and she moved without complaint. Here is a pic and a video.

That's great!
Now drain the oil and put fresh in and see if the starter will turn it over--
Better yet, drop the pan and clean out the old gunk. And maybe get up into the engine with a solvent-soaked rag and clean the gunk out of there, too!
I'm in firm agreement with Jon......don't try to start it or even crank it with the starter until you've dropped/cleaned the reservoir. Chances are you'll be feeling pretty smart when you see what's in there.

One time, when I pulled the pan off a 308 I found a dead mouse in the oil!!! Never did figure out how he got there.
Which brings up the old joke: "What was the mouse doing in the oil pan??"
He was doing the back stroke!!!!! :woohoo:
