I am restoring the carb.gaskets(rearrange as per factory manual) and found the heat deflector had a base coat of red paint, same as air cleaners. What was the original finish of the deflectors. Thanks Roger

Roger,

I think that some were black and some were red, what color is the engine? If the engine is gold or silver I would go with black, it the engine is red, I'd go with red (correct me if I am wrong). Bill Albright had ones made out of heavy gauge brushed stainless steel, those would go with any engine. I have noticed that there are two different thickness for the heat deflectors. With Twin-H, I usually find the thin one on the back and thick one in the front. Does anyone know why?

John

BTW, I think the moderators should have moved this out of the Club and Forum Suggestions and Comments. More likely to get a response in the Hudson topic area.
