Am looking for some good close up pic of the throttle and choke linkage from the bottom of steering column and from the dash firewall for the "strangler" adjuster. This is for '12 Hudson speed roadster and may not be same as touring etc. but need to start somewhere.
Fred, I have a Dykes Auto and Gas engine book that has all kinds of early information in it, including stuff about the Continental "7R and "4L and model "N" Red Seal engines. It breaks down the other parts- such as electrical, starter etc. according to manufacturer, not by Hudson or engine make. This book is about 1400 pages with some of the smallest print I've ever seen, two columns per page and covers items from the teens that I've never heard of and models of cars that I've never heard of. If you can figure out who made some of the components your Continental has on it, maybe I can get something for you. Terry PS- there is nothing in the index under "strangler" but the index alone is about 80 pages.
Fred, I don't know if you know Dave Kostansek in Ohio, but he is pretty deeply into the "older" Hudsons. He may not have a spare "strangler" to sell you (if indeed that is what you're looking for) but might have some suggestion of interchanges. Or even know of someone who has fabricated a reproduction. Who knows?
Dave's contact information is in the H-E-T Roster
"Strangler" is "choke" in British English.

Thanks On the ACCA site I have some pics of the "strangler" showing a L and R which I believe is for Lean and Rich. The only adjustment is for a type of method to increase or decrease amount of air to the Zenith carb. I show pics of the one I made based on pics of another Speedster. What I am in process of making are the small arms attached to bottom of rods on the steering column.
What edition do you have, mine is 1917.
Any pic of linkage or of Zenith cab. that shows linkage would be appreciated for sure.
Thanks
I have tried several times but do not get any replies,
Thanks
Fred
Fred, I have the twentieth edition with all revisions included (1943 to 1948). There are 4 pages on early Zenith carbs and a cutaway drawing of a model "U" carburetor and one picture of a Zenith "OD" duplex carb. The information on those pages includes troubleshooting and adjustments and a small picture of the temperature regulating band. The cutaway drawing does show how the choke lever is oriented in the air intake. Terry
Fred Here's a picture of the cutaway rendering....if I can get it to load up. if you can't read it or need more information, my e-mail address is snowshoe90@aol.com. Terry
I'll try again-
Fred, I'm having all sorts of problems with either my computer or this website- just give send me an e-mail and I'll send you the information I have. Terry
