I know this has been covered before but I just can't get anything using the search function of the web site. Therefore, I'd like to ask again - about how much does a complete 308 engine weigh (without transmission). Thanks in advance.
Ed
660 lbs was the best answer I got for a twin h 308.
Stacy,
Thanks a lot. The forum always comes through. That's just the info I needed.

I know the bare block out of my 232 Wasp (clean from machine shop) weighs about 220#; I weighed it before reassembly!
I am assuming that this is for a 'shipping quote'. You'll also need to know how the engine will be crated/packaged (i.e., secured to a pallet).
Many shipping companies have a minimum charge for pallet, based on the square footage that the pallet takes-up in the truck, as well as 'if' the shipment can be 'stacked' (probably not, in the case of most automobile part(s) on a pallet).
It is probably best to find a good, dependable transport/shipping company, and work out a reasonable price for shipping. This can get much more complicated if the shipment ends up being international, as many on this forum can attest.
Thanks for the suggestions. However,I am not shipping it. I just want to know how much I have to hold up when I remove the bell housing. I want to work on the throwout bearing.
Again, thanks,
Ed
