I have a members car that wants to install Twin-H on the original 1949 262 engine. While I know the throttle linkage is totally different than 51 & up big 6 engines, I was wondering if anyone has done this conversion ? I would assume that a special bracket would need to be fabricated to adapt the 51 & up linkage to the earlier engine.

TOM I DID IT ON MY 50 PACEMAKER CV IT WAS NOT THAT HARD THE BELL CRANK ON THE ENGINE TURNS THE WRONG WAY I HAD TO CUT PART OF IT OFF AND WELD IT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF IT SO IT SPUN THE OTHER WAY BUT AS I'M THINKING ABOUT IT THAT MAY HAVE BEEN THE PACEMAKERS LINKAGE I THINK IT'S DIFFERENT ALSO
HUDSONLY

Paul, 1950 Pacemaker linkage is different from the others and the linkage was changed on mine which has the 2bbl WDO carb and 262 engine, rather than the WA-1 single bbl with 232 engine. Completely different setups.

The main problem is that the narrow block throttle linkage is very simular to the 8 cylinder linkage and does not have the bellcrank pivot. There is no boss on the side of the block to attach it to on the pre 51 blocks.

Paul, you have a 308 in your car, correct?

Tom - I installed a Hornet TwinH on a 1950 Super 6. I made a bracket of strap iron. I used the oil filter mounting holes on the block to secure the front of the bracket and mounted a bellcrank pivit pin at the rear of the bracket close to where it would be on a later block. It worked fine. Norm

For what it's worth, the correct Twin-H setup for the 262 uses a different manifold with carb stud centers at an eighth inch (I think) lesser span and the carbs are 990S as opposed to the 968S for the 308. I'm sure there are plenty of the 308 manifolds on 262s that are just fine but it's not how Hudson did it. Heck, I once bought a 232 with a 308 twin-H set-up installed. That must have been a real performer.....not.
