I'm having some trouble with one of my carbs on a twin H set-up.
We took both of them off and cleaned them inside and out.
Reinstalled and we were getting some "Popping" out of one exhaust pipe. Looked over everything else and found nothing. Our last option today was to switch the front carb to the rear and bring the rear carb to the front. This solidified that it is in the carb. The "popping continues, but now it is out of the other exhaust. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Another additonal note.
When we do have it idling and I put it into gear it nearly quits or does quit.

Thanks again.
Jason

With out the prober tools you can not just take them apart and put them back together. Walt.

It could be a vacuum leak. I had a similar problem and found that there was a leak at the carb mounting gasket. Good luck.

Hello,
Yes, It seems like a vacuum leak to me as well.
Just trying to pin point it. No luck yet.
We did not totally rebuild the carbs we just took them apart and cleaned the basics. On the carb we are having trouble on there really is no vacuum adjustment on the screw. Which says to me there is a vacuum leak somewhere too.

Do you mean that nothing changes when you adjust the idle mixture screw?

Yes. My mistake.
Nothing changes when I adjust the idle mixture screw on the one carb.
On the other carb when I close it completely I notice a difference. On this one when I close it it does nothing.

If you have a UNI_SYN tool, set it up on the good carb and set the ball to the center, then place it on the bad one and see if the ball raises, if not that carb has a vacuum leak, or the idle jet is blocked. Walt.

And if no uni-syn, check vacuum. If low, you got a problem You can spray carb cleaner at base of carbs and around intake manifold to see if rpm rises, a sure sign of vacuum leak. An automotive stethoscope can be used to localize a tell-tale hiss. No use adjusting carbs til this is dealt with.

Hello,
I worked on this more last night.
It looks like this carb is dumping much more gas than the carb that is functioning properly. I think this could also be causing the blubbering when I put it in gear.

That could be one of 2 things. Float is set to high or the needle seat is bad. That carb needs rebuilt. Walt.
