Hello,

I am looking for a pair of trunk springs for my 53 Hornet Coupe.
Does anyone know these are being reproduced?

Thanks.

Don't think so Jason but I do have them.

Thank you Lance.

Do you know if the spring can be replaced or do I need to replace the entire hinge? Looks like they are riveted on.

Thanks.

As I recall you can just replace the spring.

Would think that someone has found a air shock (aka hood supports on late models) that would fit where the spring is located and would work perfectly and not make a scraping sound when the trunk lid is opened. My '53 trunk lid will not stay up AT ALL and makes like the Inter Sanctum door screech when it is opened; But I am sure that WD40 wouldn't help it stay up better, but perhaps it would be quiet while I propped it up with a stick~~~~

PROGRESS REPORT: Found the problem; one of the pins at the rear of one of the springs was missing. Was able to insert an awl by pushing the lid up and wiggling some. Now the lid will stay up and makes no noise. Basically only one spring was actuating and with the second, things are fine. Thanks for the post as my incentive. Oh, the awe will stay for a while; maybe a long while.
