See if there is a NAPA close by,
They have this one listed for 54 Hudson Hornet
http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Voltage-Regulator/_/R-ECHVR22_0354839388

Ok, I just called the NAPA in Shelby, and they don't have it in stock, could get one overnight.

PROBLEM SOLVED. I received an e-mail on May 29, to the effect that Benjamin had acquired the necessary voltage regulator, and is on his way.

Hello Everyone: First off, yes, we're on the road again! We got the necessary voltage regulator on Saturday and got it installed. I begged a voltmeter off one of the maintenance guys at the hotel in Shelby, made sure I wasn't going to boil my battery, and off we went...

We stayed in Edmonton yesterday, which was lovely. A friend of my wife's lives there, so we had a nice relaxing morning. Then we got a call that there was an emergency at work, so my wife had to fly home for a few days. I'm going to continue up to Haines with the dog, and then she'll meet me there.

On my way out of town this morning, I broke a few more things, so I spent the morning with Harvey and Dean Callfas, who live just a bit east of Edmonton. They had the right tools (a tiny allen key and a big hammer) to get me straightened out and back on the road once more. Thanks guys!

And thanks to the HET community too. You guys are awesome. When this is all done, I'll have to type up the full story and send it to the newsletter...

Thanks all!

-Benjamin

Well, we finally made it back a few days ago. The car didn't burst into flames, the wife didn't divorce me, and the dog didn't run away, so I'll consider it all a success!

Story and photos coming in the next few days.

Benjamin: As I may have mentioned before, I think Sam Jackson might be interested in hearing about your trip, in terms of mentioning it in the White Triangle News. Of course, he has limited space but you might want to shoot him an e-mail, raising the possibility. He might then let you know whether he has available just half a column (a photo and a couple paragraphs)....or three whole pages (for an extended feature article)!
