Can anyone tell me about a clear plexi lens mounted on dash to the left of the steering wheel with that is labeled "Guide"? It looks original but the images online do not show this item on other cars. Thanks. Gary

They were particularly good on cars that had the big sun visors.
Thanks. I never would have guessed but now it make sense. Were these an original item or something that would have been aftermarket. Gary
They were an original Hudson Accessory, part number HA-220544 made by the Guide division of GM, and marketed by Hudson for customers that had installed the outside over the windshield visor.

Starting in 1948, all Hudson dashes were set to install the traffic light finder, the hole was already in the dash. Lay on the drivers side floor with a flash light and an ice pick and look at the end of the dash and you will see a 1/4 inch hole drilled through the metal and we use to push the ice pick up through the hole and install the traffic light finder. GM made finders for Chevy's but you had to drill a hole to mount it. They do not work to good used in a Hudson. Walt.
