Looking for suggestions for a rebuilder for our 34 Terraplane motor. The original got hot & cracked the block. I have another for rebuild but my local guy does not deal with the Babbitt bearings. Located in SW Florida but can deliver or ship the 2 motors. Contact info would be appreciated, I would like to drive it someday. The rest of the car is in great shape, needs the roof redone & it's road ready. Want to keep it original. Thanks.
I had great service from Godwin-Singer Machine shop in St. Petersburg Fl. They did all my mains and rods on a 49 Eight. Did some stud repairs and crank turning, line boreing etc.. Great work done by a highly skilled technician(Tom). End result is a quiet smooth engine. They even provided me with a CD with many pictures of the entire process on my engine. The price was less than all the other choices I had.. Pa, Conn. and Oregon! I was able to deliver and pick up the block in a pickup truck. Shipping would not only be horrendous, but the chance of it being lost was not anything I wanted to think about!

I took the engine to them. I took the engine apart, They did an evaluation and recommendations. I furnished some parts and reassembly. I am sure they would do it all if needed.. Tell them Dave from Melbourne sent ya!
Vilas Motor Works in Bryan, Texas, is worth a call.
He tells me he's never done a Hudson, but I can assure you the babbitted shells of the main bearings and the babbitted connecting rods do not cause any desire to back away.
He says "We rebuild Fords and Chevrolets in order that we can do Packards and (fairly long list). 979-775-1633. You need to talk to John W. Vilas (there's a John R.) or Paul Hirschlet.
